OXFORD – Maine State Police are investigating an accident that killed two teenagers when their car possibly flipped and struck a tree.

The accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. Monday when Vanessa Jordan, 19, of Gray lost control of her vehicle while driving on King Street. Jordan and her passenger, Nicholas Noble, 19, of Poland, were ejected from the car and killed.

Excessive speed was a factor in the accident, said Trooper Andre Paradis. There was no sign of alcohol use, but toxicology tests were taken as they routinely are in fatal accidents, he said.

The accident was the third double fatality since Saturday.

Two people were killed early Saturday morning in a single-car accident in Plymouth that police are blaming on alcohol and excessive speed.

Two men from the town of Mexico were killed in a head-on collision on Route 17 Saturday night when one of their cars crossed the centerline into the oncoming lane.
