A transient who repeatedly caused problems Tuesday at various locations in downtown Bangor, according to police, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.
Bangor police Officer James Dearing first issued a disorderly conduct warning to former Caribou resident Mark Whitmore, 43, near an apartment building on First Street.
Dearing’s report said Whitmore’s pants were falling down, he was extremely intoxicated and he was shouting obscenities.
Shortly after, another Bangor officer issued a similar warning to Whitmore at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter.
Police then received complaints that Whitmore was causing problems at Dunkin’ Donuts and Shaw’s on Main Street.
Dearing assisted two other officers at Shaw’s at about 9:45 p.m. when Whitmore tried to enter the store with his pants down, the report said.
The man was removed and he walked across the Shaw’s parking lot, only to return looking for a fight with an officer, Dearing said in his report.
Whitmore again approached the entrance to Shaw’s and began harassing customers, at which time Dearing told the man he was under arrest.
Dearing’s report said Whitmore fought briefly with officers and cursed them before he was handcuffed and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
Whitmore was not cooperative with officers at the jail, the report said, and he was placed in a holding cell for the night.
He was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
In April, Whitmore appeared in Presque Isle District Court on charges of assault and theft of services and was sentenced to 48 days in jail.
