Success of Stephen King tours in Bangor leads to additional dates for enthusiasts

BANGOR – Due to the success of the inaugural run of the Greater Bangor CVB’s Tommyknockers and More Bus Tour, additional dates have been added.

“The phones were ringing off the hook for the July 4th tour,” said Paul Hilchey-Chandler, Marketing Coordinator for the Greater Bangor CVB and the Maine Highlands. “As a result, we have added tours on Aug. 15th and Sept. 26th.”

Tour Guide Ryan King, best known for his Mount Hope Cemetery and Candlelight Ghost Walks, shared his extraordinary knowledge of local history and the works of Bangor’s most famous author with a capacity crowd on the first tour. He also will be guiding the remaining dates.

The tour begins at 2 p.m. at the Bangor Waterfront in the Front Street parking lot next to the harbormaster’s office. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Greater Bangor CVB at 947-5205 or 1 (800) 91-MOOSE. The cost is $10 per person.

Ryan King is a volunteer for the Bangor Museum and Center for History, presenting its Mount Hope Cemetery Tour and Candlelight Tours of downtown Bangor. The History Channel has featured him in “Haunted Maine” and he has appeared on “Weekend Explorer,” a program on PBS. He has been interviewed for numerous articles, a number of which have appeared in the Bangor Daily News and Downeast Magazine.

The Greater Bangor CVB is a nonprofit organization which exists to stimulate economic vitality by promoting the Bangor region as the preferred destination for meetings, conventions and visitors.
