ELLSWORTH – A Lubec man agreed in court Wednesday to stay away from his co-defendant in an alleged robbery.

Wearing orange jail-issued clothing, Theodore S. Olson Jr., 52, appeared Wednesday in Hancock County Superior Court on a motion to revoke his bail after he had been arrested last week on charges of theft by deception, misuse of identification and violating bail.

Police allege that Olson and Annajean Robbins, 29, of Lubec used a stolen credit card to buy $500 worth of electronic equipment from Wal-Mart in Ellsworth on June 7. The card had been stolen from a car in Brewer earlier that day and the illegal use of the card was recorded by Wal-Mart video cameras, according to police.

Olson and Robbins also are accused of robbing an 84-year-old Ellsworth woman of her purse outside Hannaford supermarket in Ellsworth on March 10.

Olson’s attorney, Steven Juskewitch of Ellsworth, told Justice Andrew Mead in court that his client should be able to stay out of trouble as long as he stays away from Robbins, whom he described as Olson’s former girlfriend.

“Mr. Olson hasn’t been in any [previous] trouble in his lifetime,” Juskewitch said. “He’s been in enough trouble [lately] because of Annajean Robbins.”

Olson was ordered in March by the courts to stay away from Robbins but in April that requirement was dropped from his bail conditions, according to court documents. Mead reattached that requirement Wednesday to Olson’s other bail conditions.

The defendant still was being held Wednesday afternoon at Hancock County Jail, according to a corrections officer. Olson’s case is expected to go to trial sometime in August, Juskewitch said.
