Many groups, organizations and local businesses are contributing to and participating in the 13th annual M*A*S*H Blood Drive, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Bangor Civic Center.
Each year, the American Red Cross Blood Services New England Region conducts this summer drive, because with so many of us on the road, the need for blood goes up while the donations go down.
Donor recruiter Colleen Robbins hopes many donors will participate in this year’s event, which is supported by N.H. Bragg, ERA Dawson-Bradford, Bangor Savings Bank and Heomonetics Corp.
The drive, which features drawings for prizes and M*A*S*H T-shirts for all donors, will be broadcast by WKIT radio and on television stations WVII Channel 7 and Fox 22.
Not only will you eat well, thanks to Domino’s Pizza, and see some vintage military vehicles, you will be assisted by volunteers representing Bangor High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Maine Korean War Veterans and members of the Maine Army National Guard Mountain Company of Brewer.
If you have questions about donating blood, call the ARC Blood Services office at (800) GIVE-LIFE or visit www.newenglandblood.org.
