Stephanie, 13, has a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She collects many things, including DVD movies, Pokeman cards and stuffed animals. Stephanie loves being involved with the Sunday school and youth group programs at her church. She also greatly enjoys scrapbooking, riding horses, shopping, watching movies and listening to music.
Stephanie was filmed recently at Tykenbay Farm in Etna for a “Thursday’s Child” television segment. She has taken horseback riding lessons for the past five years and really enjoys it. When she was riding farm owner P.J. Woodard’s horse, Stephanie sat proudly in the saddle and said to the WABI TV-5 videographer that she can “feel my faith when I ride a horse.” During the filming, Stephanie appeared very content and confident upon the horse.
While she would very much like to be adopted, Stephanie wants to continue to live in the same general area where she now lives because of her strong ties to her church. She is seeking a family that has fun together and one that can share her interests. School is not an issue for her, and she would like to be able to attend a different school when she is adopted. She is well liked by the staff at her school and has made several friends there.
Stephanie has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, and post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, and takes medication to help with both disorders. She is a hard worker and conscientious student. She previously received special education services and required resource room time for help with spelling and word decoding. She has made tremendous progress in spelling, word decoding and reading during the past school year and no longer requires special education services.
