BANGOR – Tyson Bannon’s two-run double and Ben Silver’s two-run single, both in the fifth inning, helped the Bangor Senior League all-star team post a 10-9 victory over Old Town-Orono/Veazie for the District 3 championship and a berth in the Senior League World Series.
Bangor earned the World Series spot as the winner of host District 3. The World Series starts Aug. 15 at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
Old Town tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs and eventually loading up the bases with two outs. But Bangor’s Alex Gallant came in and induced a groundout to end the game.
Bannon finished with two doubles and four RBIs. Gallant singled twice and drove in two runs. Ryan Jones had a single, a double and an RBI while Kyle Leeman added an RBI double.
Jon Brothers paced Old Town with three RBIs on two doubles and a single. David Chillelli added a single and two RBIs.

At Lincoln, Ivan Voisine hit a solo homer to go with two singles, knocking in four runs and giving Lincoln the district three title.
Lance Bernier singled twice and knocked in a run while Ethan White doubled, singled and plated a run.
Nate Lewis slammed a two-run homer for Bangor East. Bud Angst had an RBI single while Devon Lyshon and Luke Hefferman each singled.

South Portland 5, Calais 2
At Thomaston, Abby Flynn gave up one hit as South Portland eliminated Calais.
Katelyn Violette and Paizley Mitchell each singled twice for South Portland.
Sarah Smith singled for Calais.
Waldoboro 14, Old Town 5
At Thomaston, Natasha Dyer smacked two doubles as Waldoboro knocked out Old Town.
Taylor Simmons added a double and a single and Desiree Benner singled twice for Waldoboro. Dyer allowed three hits while striking out nine and walking two.
McKayla Gastia, Ashley Abbott and Anna Shirland each hit a single for Old Town.
Biddeford 13, Calais 3
At Thomaston Saturday, Sarah Gilblair tossed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and seven walks as Biddeford rolled over Calais.
Gilblair also hit two singles and a double. Jenna Roy singled twice.
South Portland 16, Old Town 5
At Thomaston Saturday, Abby Flynn pitched a one-hitter, striking out 13 and walking 10, to power South Portland past Calais.
Flynn chipped in with three doubles and a single.
Ashley Abbott singled for Old Town.
