A Bangor man was caught with drug paraphernalia Monday after a Bangor police officer stopped the driver of a Buick in which he was traveling.
Josh Emerson, 20, had two hypodermic needles, a razor blade, cotton swabs and a bottle cap stored in a small cigarette tin under the passenger seat of the Buick, according to police.
Officer Brandon Vafiades stopped the driver of the car, Aaron Pancsofar of Brewer, at 10:50 p.m. on Main Street because the vehicle’s muffler was dragging. Vafiades discovered that Pancsofar, 18, was driving with a suspended license.
Vafiades found the box containing the needles after Pancsofar gave him permission to search the Buick. Emerson, who had been sitting in the passenger’s seat, admitted that the box belonged to him.
Vafiades issued Emerson a summons for sale and use of drug paraphernalia, and summoned Pancsofar for operating after suspension.
A patient at Eastern Maine Medical Center was issued a summons for assault Monday after he reportedly struck a registered nurse on the shoulder.
Bangor police Officer Robert Hutchings reported driving David Brewster of Bangor to EMMC at 9 p.m. for an involuntary evaluation after Brewster threatened to jump off a bridge. Brewster was intoxicated at the time, Hutchings reported.
Later in the evening, the hospital staff reported that Brewster, 43, had hit one of the nurses who had been trying to protect another nurse from Brewster. The nurse was offended by Brewster’s actions, but not injured, Hutchings said.
