BANGOR – The American Hospital Association, the national organization representing and serving hospitals and health care systems, recently recognized St. Joseph Hospital for its commitment to health in the Bangor region. The association presented Sister Mary Norberta, president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Healthcare, with a plaque honoring St. Joseph Hospital for 50 years of membership in the association.
The hospital’s commitment to health in the region also was exemplified in the results of independent patient satisfaction surveys and statewide Clinical Quality Project outcomes. One aspect of the Clinical Quality Project reviewed the treatment of patients suffering from heart attacks. In comparing the results from St. Joseph Hospital with the results from hospitals nationwide, St. Joseph Hospital scored substantially above the national norm, within the top 2.5 percent.
In addition, independent patient satisfaction results compared St. Joseph Hospital with hospitals across the country on 16 performance indicators. Some of the indicators include general care, environment, billing and pain management.
