GUILFORD – The installation of a new water main on Elm Street to the Abbot town line is progressing as planned, according to a Guilford-Sangerville Water District official.
The project is about 60 percent complete, according to Lance Pulkkinen, district manager.
The new 12-inch water main, which replaced a 6-inch pipe, was needed to improve the water quality for residents in Riverbend Homes, a housing development, and for about 30 other customers along the road, Pulkkinen said Tuesday.
It also will improve fire protection services in that region.
The district received a $400,000 public infrastructure grant for the work of which the district will fund a 20 percent match.
