THOMASTON – Kristen Whittaker struck out 11 batters as Auburn defeated Biddeford 7-5 on Thursday to win the state Little League Softball 9-10 championship.

Whittaker also had three singles with an RBI for Auburn.

Sarah Gilblair hit an RBI double and Keila Grigware an RBI single for Biddeford.

Old Town received the sportsmanship award.

At Calais, Jared Reed led Coastal of Blue Hill to a state semifinal win with two singles.

Dustin Douglass and Josh Gale each added a single.

Sam Canales doubled and singled, while Jonathan Dupee singled for Maremont of Saco.
