PORTLAND – Chris Curry knocked a two-run single and Josh Habel pitched six strong innings as the Norwich Navigators defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 3-1 Sunday.

Norwich (54-45) led 3-0 from the first inning. After the Navigators loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batsman, they picked up one run when Daniel Ortmeier grounded out and two more runners scored on Curry’s looping single to left.

The Sea Dogs (47-54) tallied their lone run in the second inning when Jeff Bailey singled, advanced to third on a walk and wild pitch and scampered home on Kenny Perez’s groundout.

Habel was in command throughout his six-inning outing, striking out seven, walking two and allowing three singles and one run as he improved to 4-8. Portland starter Ryan Cameron dropped to 2-3 with the loss.
