An editing error deleted words from Hendrik D. Gideonse’s letter in Monday’s edition. The corrected sections follow:

“The Palesky tax cap is not just a draconian solution (reminder: if the bed is too small cut off the feet of the occupant to fit) to Maine’s unbalanced and outdated tax system, but it necessarily entails a total redistribution of power away from the voters of the towns to either counties or Augusta. …

“A vote for the Palesky tax cap may be appealing to some. However, it would be nothing less than a constitutional upheaval concentrating power and authority away from the voters in Maine placing it in the hands of representatives in Augusta or the shire towns where it does not now exist.”
