Root (beer) for the home team
Want a root-beer float with an old-fashioned taste? Make a homemade version with McCormick’s root-beer concentrate, available at grocery stores. Simply mix 3/4 cup sugar and 1 cup boiling water until sugar dissolves. Add 11/2 teaspoons root-beer concentrate. Chill. When ready to serve, combine root-beer mixture with 1 liter chilled soda water. Stir slowly to mix. Place 2 scoops vanilla ice cream in a tall glass. Slowly pour root beer between ice cream and side of glass. Serve immediately.
