A Bangor man was charged with furnishing Schedule Z drugs Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of more than a half-pound of marijuana, police said.
Casey Belanger, 26, was stopped on North Main Street for speeding on his motorcycle by Officer Ed Willey of the Brewer Police Department.
After issuing Belanger a warning for speeding, Willey conducted a consent pat down of Belanger, according to reports. Willey found two bags of marijuana in Belanger’s pockets, and then proceeded to search a backpack Belanger had with him.
Willey found a gallon-sized plastic bag containing marijuana in Belanger’s backpack, according to his report. Belanger was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
A Winterport man was charged with operating while under the influence, operating after suspension, and operating without a license late Monday.
Darren Philbrick, 25, was driving a 1995 Chevy Lumina on I-95 south when Officer Wade Betters of the Bangor Police Department stopped him for swerving.
According to Betters, there were two passengers in the vehicle in addition to Philbrick. Betters added that the vehicle smelled of alcohol. A cooler and large bucket were in the back seat. Betters said he saw that the cooler was filled with beer cans.
When Philbrick was asked for his license, he responded that he did not have it. Philbrick told Betters that he had “one beer” earlier in the night, and that he was dehydrated, according to reports.
Betters asked Philbrick to get out of the car. Philbrick agreed to perform a field sobriety test, which, according to Betters, he failed. Philbrick then admitted his license was under suspension, and was in his back pocket.
Betters arrested Philbrick and called a taxi for the passengers, one of whom was given a disorderly conduct warning after being “belligerent,” according to Betters.
Philbrick was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he was found to have a .22 percent blood alcohol level.
