ALFRED – Lacey Littlefield pitched a three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to give Hampden a 10-0 victory over Scarborough on Wednesday to win the state Junior League (ages 13-14) softball championship.

Casey Belcher and Nikki Libbey each had two singles for the winners and Ashley Gott doubled and singled.

Alexis Garrison hit two singles and Reegan Brackett singled for Scarborough.

Hampden, which finished the double-elimination tournament with a 4-1 record, advances to the East Regional at Syracuse, N.Y., on Aug. 7-12.

Hampden opened tournament play with a 9-0 win over Saco last Saturday, but had to advance through the losers bracket after losing to Scarborough 10-8 on Sunday.

The District 3 champion eliminated Saco 7-0 on Monday and then knocked Scarborough from the unbeaten ranks with a 14-1 win on Tuesday to set up Wednesday’s championship winner-take-all final.

Saco 8, South Portland 1

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Saco took advantage of three South Portland errors to score four times in the third inning en route to the victory and the state championship.

Tyler Kelly hit an RBI double and Kory Martin an RBI single for the winners.

Dan Ingraham had a double and two singles for South Portland
