Second suspect sought in Garland theft

GARLAND – One man has been charged but another was still at-large Wednesday in connection with an incident at an Oliver Hill Road residence where the home’s owner was reportedly burglarized at gunpoint.

Reginald Melvin of Dexter has been charged with Class A burglary and assault.

Penobscot County Sheriff deputies were still looking Wednesday afternoon for another suspect, Wilbur Corson, of St. Albans, whom police believe was also involved.

Deputy Keith Mercier said his office received a burglary complaint shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Two men had reportedly broken into a home and threatened the owner at gunpoint, demanding money.

Mercier said the two men knew the home’s owner, but didn’t say what was taken.

Melvin was indicted by a Penobscot County grand jury in 1994 on charges of burglary and theft and again in 2001 for operating after revocation. He was also charged with OUI and being a habitual traffic offender in 1991.

Corson was indicted by a Penobscot County grand jury on charges of burglary and theft in 1991.
