BURLINGTON, Vt. – The charitable giving arm of the jam band Phish says it will donate at least $100,000 of the proceeds from an upcoming concert to Vermont nonprofit groups.

Phish, which formed in Burlington, has already earmarked $75,000 of that money for groups including Bread and Puppet Theater, Dairy Farmers of Vermont and the Vermont Foodbank, the WaterWheel Foundation said. The balance will be donated to other Northeast Kingdom nonprofit organizations, the foundation said.

The WaterWheel Foundation, created by Phish in 1997, oversees the band’s various charitable activities.

Over 70,000 fans are expected to descend upon the Northeast Kingdom town of Coventry for the band’s final concert.

“The four members of Phish are longtime residents of Vermont. These grants are part of the band’s efforts to make the festival a positive experience for local residents as well as fans,” the WaterWheel Foundation said in a statement.
