A Bangor detective working private detail at Barnaby’s on the Odlin Road Friday caught an underage woman trying to use another woman’s license to get into the bar.
Trisha Carlsen, 20, of Milford came in with a group of seven women at about 10:30 p.m. and couldn’t produce identification. She asked the manager several times if she could go in anyway, but was refused.
Carlsen came back a few minutes later with an ID that identified her as Bridgit Fleming, according to a police report by Detective Erik Tall.
The manager at Barnaby’s asked Carlsen several questions and even called Bangor Sgt. Al Hayden to take a look at the license. The officer said the picture looked like Carlsen and she answered all the questions, so Hayden let her in.
The manager, however, continued to express concerns about Carlsen, the police report said. Detective Tall noticed a woman who looked similar to Carlsen and asked for her name. She said she was Bridgit Fleming, the name that appeared on the ID Carlsen had used.
Tall spotted Carlsen on the dance floor with a drink in her hand and escorted her outside. Carlsen refused to give her name and told Tall “he couldn’t prove anything,” the report said.
Carlsen was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail. She was issued summonses for misuse of an identification card and possession of alcohol by a minor.
A Lamoine man looking to start a fight Saturday with a Bangor police officer was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Officer Robert Angelo was sitting in his cruiser outside the Tavern on Main Street shortly after 1 a.m. when Jeffrey Bryden, 23, started yelling profanities at him and taunting the officer to fight in front of a group of patrons, Angelo’s report said.
When Angelo got out of the cruiser, the man ran off, ripped off his shirt and then turned around to make obscene gestures, Angelo said. The officer saw Bryden get on a bicycle and ride off.
Bryden returned to the area minutes later and continued to yell at Angelo, who had gone back to his cruiser. Angelo told Bryden he was going to arrest him, and the man “began putting on a show” for the bar’s patrons, Angelo said.
According to the police report, Bryden was yelling that Angelo was beating him with his nightstick, but the officer reportedly hadn’t even left the cruiser.
Angelo finally did get out of the car and told Bryden he was arrested. The officer took the man to Penobscot County Jail. Bryden told Angelo he was going to tell the officer’s supervisor that he was beaten and have Angelo fired, the report said.
