CUMBERLAND – Mike Amato of Blue Hill fired a 68 on Tuesday to post the low round in the 15-17 age division of the 2004 Maine Junior Golf Championships being held at the Val Halla Golf and Recreation Center.

Amato was two strokes ahead of two-time champion Jesse Speirs of Bangor, who was second among the 16 players in the division.

The tournament features play in four divisions: 15-17 boys, 13-14 boys, 12-and-under and girls. Competition in all divisions continues Wednesday with match play. Champions will be crowned Thursday.
