Boy on bike runs stop sign, hits pickup in Old Town

An 11-year-old boy suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when his bicycle struck a vehicle at the intersection of Oak and Sixth streets in Old Town.

The juvenile ran through a stop sign on Oak Street at 12:20 p.m. and hit broadside a 1998 GMC pickup truck, according to police. The boy was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and later released.

The driver of the truck, which had $1,000 in damage, was not injured. The bike was ruined, according to police.

A Brewer man was summoned for theft Monday night after he allegedly stole two compact discs and ran from an employee at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Brewer.

Adam Porter, 19, of Brewer handed over one CD to a loss prevention associate in the store parking lot but fled before surrendering the other disc, according to police reports. The associate chased Porter, restrained him and called police at 9:50 p.m.

Porter was summoned for theft and was issued a criminal trespass warning, according to reports. The other CD was recovered.
