Ricky Jones of Thomaston is one of eight players from the Northeast who will compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship August 16-22 at Winged Foot GC in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Another Mainer, Joe Alvarez of Holden, was selected as an alternate after shooting 75-72-147 in the two-round qualifier.

Jones qualified last week along with Ron Harvey, Jr., Douglas Clap and Brendan Hester. Joining them are Bryan Bigley, Frank Vana, Jr., David Jones and Manny Dasilva.
