BANGOR – More than 60 employees of the University of Maine System were recognized for career milestones at receptions in Augusta and Bangor recently. UMS Chancellor Joseph Westphal served as host at the receptions for employees of the system’s University College outreach centers and its systemwide services employees.

BANGOR – More than 60 employees of the University of Maine System were recognized for career milestones at receptions in Augusta and Bangor recently. UMS Chancellor Joseph Westphal served as host at the receptions for employees of the system’s University College outreach centers and its systemwide services employees.

Systemwide services employees perform a wide variety of policy and administrative support services for the system’s seven universities and its 34,000 students and 5,000 employees.

The system’s University College outreach centers offer on-site and off-site access to courses as well as certificate and degree programs of the seven universities within the University of Maine System.

Established in 1968, the University of Maine System features seven universities – some with multiple campuses – located across the state, 11 University College outreach centers and more than 100 interactive distance education sites.

Area employees honored were:

Bangor: Tracy Bigney, Ann Caruso, Tracy Elliott, Judith McMahan, Angela Nickerson and Mary Whitney.

Brewer: Gerald Dube, Frank Gallant and William Gilfillan.

Carmel: Jeanette Rogers.

Eddington: Irelann Anderson.

Glenburn: Nancy King, April Strowbridge.

Hampden: Roberta Jeffery-Gant, Mary Richardson and J. Kelley Wiltbank.

Hermon: Alan Cyr and Joan Day.

Kenduskeag: Kimberly Hikel and Gary Lagasse.

Milford: John Scofield.

Old Town: Dawn Chaisson, Jeffrey Joy, Anthony Richard and John St. Peter.

Orono: James Breece, William Elsemore, Eloise Kleban, Michael Murphy and James White.

Orrington: Miriam White.

Veazie: Peter Andersen and Lee Honey.
