QUEBEC CITY – Benoit Emond went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs to power the Quebec Capitales to a 9-3 Northeast League baseball victory over the Bangor Lumberjacks Thursday night.

Emond doubled and recorded three singles, including a two-run single in Quebec’s five-run third inning that put them up 7-1.

The Lumberjacks staged a two-out rally in the fifth on a Paul Powell double to left center and an RBI single to center by Jose Garcia. Winning pitcher Paul Jacinto then struck out Brad Hargreaves to end the threat.

Jacinto pitched a complete game for the Capitales as he allowed only five hits while walking two and striking out five. He’s now 3-0.

The Capitales chased Bangor starter Matt Scheuing with their five-run third inning. He gave up seven runs on 11 hits while striking out one and walking one.

Rolando Bello doubled and singled for the Lumberjacks while Dave Martinez added a run-scoring hit.

The Lumberjacks battle the Capitales again Friday and Saturday nights before opening a homestand at the Winkin Complex Monday at 6:30 p.m. against the New Jersey Jackals.
