A Bangor woman who checked into a substance abuse treatment facility was arrested Wednesday for allegedly violating probation after a friend reportedly brought drugs to her while she was at the facility.
Bangor police Officer Steve Pelletier responded to a call at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday from an employee at a State Street treatment center.
The worker told Pelletier that an unidentified man had come to visit Jackie Madore, 34, a patient who was receiving treatment there. The officer’s report said that the man went into a bathroom at the facility and, when he came out, Madore entered.
Madore reportedly was in the bathroom for a long time and when she came out, an employee went in and found white powder on the counter, Pelletier’s report said. When Madore refused a drug test, the employee called police.
Pelletier said he questioned Madore at the facility and she denied taking drugs, saying that the white powder could have come from anyone who had used the bathroom, the report stated.
The employee also gave Pelletier a small bag with white residue that was also found in the bathroom of the facility. Madore said the bag wasn’t hers but again refused to take a drug test, his report said.
Pelletier contacted Madore’s probation officer, Corey Day, who told Pelletier to hold Madore until a drug test could be administered.
The report didn’t say why Madore was on probation, but she was indicted in September 2001 by a Knox County Superior Court grand jury on three felony counts of stealing drugs.
The treatment center employee told Pelletier that Madore was no longer welcome there, according to the officer’s report.
