A Biddeford man was arrested for drug possession Saturday night after Bangor police found him sleeping in a car at Shaw’s supermarket on Main Street.
Joseph Howe, 24, of Biddeford told police he was tired after they found him slumped over the car steering wheel at 9:30 p.m., according to police reports.
While Howe searched for identification, Officer Shawn Green saw a cellophane bag containing white tablets inside the vehicle.
Green stepped away from the car and upon returning found Howe with his hands between his legs and the cellophane bag missing, according to reports. Green asked Howe to step out of the vehicle and saw the bag in Howe’s right hand.
Howe wouldn’t say what was inside the bag, and Green grabbed Howe’s hand and pinned him to the vehicle, according to reports.
Howe later allegedly said he had “scored” the tablets, confirmed to be Vicodin, five minutes before police approached him, according to reports.
Howe was arrested for possession of a Schedule W drug.
A housepainter found with a marijuana pipe Sunday was arrested by Orono police for violating conditions of his bail.
Police found Victor Goodwin, 23, a transient, at 4 p.m. painting a home on Mill Street where neighbors had reported the smell of marijuana, according to Officer Andrew Whitehouse.
Goodwin, who was arrested July 30 for burning without a permit, smelled of alcohol, Whitehouse said. Goodwin’s bail conditions from that incident prohibited him from possessing alcohol or drugs.
Goodwin was arrested for violating conditions of his bail and summoned for possession of a marijuana pipe found in his possession, Whitehouse said.
