Molly Ivins’ op-ed column, “HOME gives people shelter, jobs, esteem” (BDN, Aug. 4), contains a serious misrepresentation of the Hancock County economy.
She indicates that the HOME Co-op, with 50 employees, is the third largest employer in Hancock County. A Maine Department of Labor list of the top 15 employers in the county shows that even the 15th largest employer has three times the number of employees than HOME.
It is unfortunate that a nationally syndicated column has spread inaccurate information on our economy.
