Legislator Kevin Muse dies

FRYEBURG – A memorial service is set for Tuesday for state Rep. Kevin Muse of Fryeburg. The Republican lawmaker, who was 53, died of heart failure early Saturday morning.

Muse, an avid sportsman, founded and was president of Fly Fish America and On Target magazines.

Muse was born in Boston and raised in Portland, where he graduated from Cheverus High School. He later graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He was married to Roberta Mendler Muse and had two sons, a stepson and stepdaughter.

During the 2001-02 legislative session, Muse served in the state House of Representatives with his brother, Christopher Muse of South Portland.

A two-term legislator, Kevin Muse was in the process of running for a third term representing House District 45.

Gov. John Baldacci has directed that flags be flown at half-staff on Tuesday in honor and remembrance of Muse.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Fryeburg.
