What’s cooking in your town? Tabasco wants to know. It’s time to enter your nonprofit’s cookbook in the 15th annual Tabasco Community Cookbook Awards. Last year, an entry from Monhegan Island placed in the top three. This year, award winners will receive donations in the amounts of $2,500, $1,000 and $750. Oh my cod

Something fishy’s going on at the Portland Public Market – the annual seafood festival, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. Among the highlights will be the unveiling of the market’s new lobster display, the opening of Scales restaurant, and a cod-tossing contest. For information, call 228-2006.
