A Massachusetts man was arrested Tuesday night for reportedly assaulting his girlfriend outside Wal-Mart in Bangor.
Bangor police Officer Brad Hanson responded to Wal-Mart shortly after 10 p.m. and spoke with a 46-year-old Massachusetts woman who had called police.
The woman told Hanson that she and her boyfriend, Carl Mondino, 34, were arguing in a car when he hit her in the face. She said she tried to leave the car but he grabbed her and continued the assault, Hanson’s report said.
The woman eventually got away and called police. She told Hanson that Mondino had a history of domestic violence including a recent arrest in Massachusetts for another alleged assault, according to the report.
Mondino admitted to arguing with the woman, but he denied hitting her. She told Hanson that she and Mondino were in Maine looking at property. The officer gave her directions to Interstate 95 and she left, the report said.
Mondino was taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with assault. He is scheduled to appear in District Court on Sept. 13.
