A shoplifter was arrested Thursday at the Bangor Mall after he was caught stealing on a department store security camera.
Henry J. Socoby, 26, of Princeton was detained by a J.C. Penney employee two hours after he was seen leaving a basket of clothes near the store’s exit, according to police reports. Socoby returned and picked up the basket at 8 p.m. and allegedly left the store without paying.
Socoby was arrested for theft and taken to Penobscot County Jail, according to reports. The clothing was valued at nearly $875.
An accident in downtown Bangor on Friday afternoon resulted in more than $2,000 in damage to two vehicles.
Laurence J. Russell of Orrington was rear-ended at 12:30 p.m. as he waited at a red light at the intersection of Main and State streets, according to police reports. Jeffrey A. Sproul, 41, of Lee hit Russell’s 2003 Dodge pickup from behind.
Russell’s truck had $800 in damage and Sproul’s 2002 Ford pickup truck had $1,500 in damage, according to reports.
