ORLAND – A teenage boy died Sunday afternoon after he lost control of his truck on Route 15 and was ejected from the vehicle.
Jared Grindle, 17, of Brooksville was dead at the scene after the Ford pickup rolled over on top of him, Maine State Police Trooper Tom Pickering said Sunday. Grindle was not wearing a seat belt.
Pickering said wet road conditions were the cause of the accident, which occurred just before 2 p.m. on a sharp turn of Route 15.
No other car was involved in the accident, Pickering said. He didn’t say whether speed or alcohol were factors.
Nicole Smith, 18, of Bucksport was a passenger in Grindle’s vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, but Pickering said she was not seriously injured. Smith was wearing her seat belt.
