WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, N.H., started deep in the field and had to cope with a broken shifter, but he still managed to win the Mohegan Sun 150 at Watkins Glen International on Saturday.

The two-time series champion started 20th and won for the third time in only five starts this season.

Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., finished just 0.211 seconds behind Leighton in second place. Dale Quarterley of Westfield, Mass., was third, while Uncasville, Conn.’s Matt Kobyluck was fourth and Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I., finished fifth.

Cherryfield’s Andy Santerre led the first lap and finished seventh to extend his championship points lead to 82 points over Mike Olsen.

Scarborough’s Kelly Moore finished on the lead lap in 14th spot. Ryan Moore, also of Scarborough, crashed on lap 16 and finished 33rd while Yarmouth’s Bill Penfold finished 34th after a four-car crash on the ninth lap that led to a 38-minute red flag.

Pro All Star Series

Johnny Clark of Hallowell won the Atlantic CAT 250 at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Saturday. Turner’s Mike Rowe finished second, Walt Hammond of Canaan, N.H. was third, Ben Rowe of Turner finished fourth, and Travis Khiel of Denmark rounded out the top five.

Winterport Dragway

Jamie Ross of St. George, New Brunswick outlasted Rick Romano of Jay to win the Gambler’s Race on Saturday. Winterport’s Bob Reynolds finished third. Sunday’s events were postponed due to inclement weather, with the races to be made up next Sunday.
