BANGOR- The Bangor Lumberjacks, announced Tuesday that they have acquired first baseman Josh Tranum from the Jackson Senators of the Central League for future considerations and cash.
Tranum, 25, is hitting .269 with 15 home runs and 74 RBIs. His 15 home runs place him third in the league and his 74 RBIs lead the circuit. Coming into the Northeast League, his power numbers would rank him first in RBI and third in home runs. Tranum also is second in the league in extra-base hits with 38, while walking 68 times in 323 at-bats.
The trade was necessitated by the Lumberjacks placing 1B/DH Donnie Ross (.327-14-30) on the disabled list. The Lumberjacks also placed INF Ryan Kane on the inactive list. Kane’s season came to an end this weekend with an injury against the Aces. The Lumberjacks retain his rights for next season.
