Mariah Reading, a 10-year-old Bangor resident, scored in two events, set a long-course meters Maine Swimming record, and was the only Mainer to compete at the Summer Eastern Zone All-Star Championships last week in Buffalo, N.Y.
Reading placed fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 31.65 seconds and was fifth in the 50 breaststroke with a 42.03. She was 13th in the 100 backstroke in a state-record time of 1:23.08. Reading, who competes for the Bangor Hurricanes, was 23rd in the 200 individual medley (3:01.46) and 26th in the 50 free (33.24).
