ELMIRA, N.Y. – An RBI fielder’s choice by Digz Edwards gave the Elmira Pioneers a 4-3 win over the Bangor Lumberjacks in the bottom of the 11th in Northeast League action Thursday night.

Elmira got its first lead in the third on an RBI single by Cleatus Davidson to score Ronnie Deck, who led off the inning with a single.

Bangor answered with two runs on Paul Powell’s double to make it 2-1.

The Lumberjacks added to their lead in the eighth on a solo homer by Jose Garcia, his second in as many nights against the Pioneers.

Elmira rallied to tie it in the eighth on Yuji Nerei’s two-run double.

The Pioneers loaded the bases in the 11th with one out when Edwards hit a sharp grounder to shortstop Paul Powell, who’s throw to home pulled catcher Brad Hargreaves off the plate, allowing Jobu Morita to slide in with the winning run.

Brian Ford pitched a scoreless 11th to earn his fifth victory for Elmira.
