They’re the baking friars of Bangor, Brother Don (photo) and Brother Kenneth. While they run the Friars’ Bakehouse on Central Street downtown, their mission as Franciscan Brothers of St. Elizabeth of Hungary takes them wherever there is need. And on Nov. 1, they will travel to Haiti for two weeks to share in the mission and ministry of Archdeacon Noe Bernier. The brothers also will attend the Haiti Connection 2004 conference in Port au Prince Nov. 10-12. Bernier, archdeacon in the Episcopal Church of Haiti, recently visited the Episcopal Diocese of Maine to share his story.
