A car was stolen in downtown Bangor on Friday afternoon, and Bangor Police say they have reason to believe it has made its way to Pennsylvania.
The car’s owner left the vehicle, a green 1994 Ford Explorer, unlocked with the keys in the car while he parked and went into a local business on Main Street. The owner, a Brewer man, said he had only left the car for a few minutes, but when he came out of the business, it was gone.
The case is still under investigation by the Bangor Police Department. The car might be in Philadelphia, according to Bangor Sgt. Paul Edwards.
Bangor police summoned a Bangor man for drunken driving early Saturday morning.
Matthew Crayne, 26, was also found with marijuana and anti-anxiety pills, police said.
Bangor police Officer George Spencer stopped Crayne on Essex Street and noticed that he seemed intoxicated. While searching for his driver’s license in his front pants pockets, Crayne pulled out a small bag filled with white pills, Spencer reported.
The pills were later discovered to be Librium, an anti-anxiety drug, which Crayne said he had purchased on the street from a drug dealer, according to Spencer’s report. Spencer also found a small “bud” of marijuana in a glass jar in Crayne’s glove compartment.
After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, Crayne was taken to the Bangor Police Department for a Breathalyzer test. His blood alcohol content tested over the legal limit.
Crayne was issued a summons for operating under the influence and possession of schedule Y drugs.
