BANGOR – Fifth-seeded Schoodic swept a doubleheader from top-ranked Aerus Electrolux, 5-2 and 11-7, at Mansfield Stadium Sunday to win the 2004 Bay League baseball championship.
The sweep came in the first two games of the best-of-three championship series.
Rob Worcester pitched a five-hitter for Schoodic in the opener, shutting out Aerus Electrolux after allowing two runs in the first inning.
Mike Worcester paced Schoodic’s eight-hit attack with two singles.
Zack Reed scattered eight hits on the mound for Aerus Electrolux, and also singled twice and scored a run.
Schoodic spotted Aerus Electrolux a 2-0 first-inning lead in the second game, then scored four runs in the top of the second to take control.
The winners capitalized on six Aerus Electrolux errors to score eight unearned runs.
Travis Bickford had two singles and four RBIs for Schoodic, while Darren Daniels singled twice with two RBIs and Mike Worcester had a double with three RBIs.
Justin Barnes led Aerus Electrolux with three singles, while Reed singled twice and Brett Danforth added a two-run single.
