I noted with interest the Associated Press article, “DEP calls for review of Penobscot dam pact” (BDN, Aug. 18).
Most disturbing, however, is that the reckless commentary of Maine Rivers in the form of a quote by its executive director, Naomi Schalit, serves to characterize their agenda. With real conservation hanging in the balance, Schalit and Maine Rivers would instead prefer to aggrandize themselves, which demonstrates that political and financial gain is their true mission.
“Delightful,” as she states, don’t you think?
