BANGOR – Community radio station WERU-FM 89.9 and 102.9 is broadcasting live from the National Folk Festival during its weekend run.

The nonprofit station said Friday it plans to broadcast from the Bangor waterfront from noon to 7:15 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

It will broadcast the musical performances on the Heritage Stage as well as backstage interviews with the performers.

The station says it plans continuous commentary by program director Joel Mann and WERU volunteer Sister Mango (host of the station’s “On the Wing” program).

This is the second year that WERU has broadcast from the Heritage Stage.

There also will be an information booth for audience members to learn more about nonprofit and noncommercial radio. For details, contact Denis Howard at 469-6600.
