Bangor police arrest three at Folk Festival

BANGOR – Bangor police removed seven people from the 66th National Folk Festival grounds Saturday, but only three were arrested, according to Bangor Police Lt. Mark Hathaway.

“The entire festival, all three years, we’ve had virtually no problems,” Hathaway said Sunday.

Dustin Ricker, 32, of Farmington was removed and arrested at about 4 p.m. Saturday for disorderly conduct, the lieutenant said.

Another disorderly conduct arrest was made at about 6:30 p.m. when police arrested Ross Lewis, 43. Lewis has no fixed residence, but jail officials said he was from the Bangor area.

Jamey Parent, 25, of Old Town also was arrested Sunday on a warrant after an officer spotted him in the crowd.

All three men were taken to Penobscot County Jail. Ricker had been released Sunday morning, but Lewis was still in police custody. Parent was also released later Sunday.

Ricker is scheduled to be arraigned at Penobscot County Superior Court on Oct. 8.

Uniformed Bangor police had a visible presence throughout the festival grounds, and a number of officers helped direct traffic on the busy main streets. Plainclothes officers also mingled in the crowd throughout the festival.
