ELLSWORTH – A Bucksport man suffered a broken leg Saturday when his car left the road and struck trees along Route 1 near the Big Chicken Barn Books & Antiques.
Timothy Levesque, 56, apparently “nodded off” while driving home at about 11:30 a.m., Ellsworth Patrolman Kelvin Mote said Sunday.
Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate Levesque from his 1993 Ford Taurus, which had slid down the embankment about 40 feet before striking trees, Mote said.
County Ambulance transported Levesque to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Levesque was not wearing a safety belt, Mote said.
Correction: A shorter version of this story ran in the Final edition.
