PRESQUE ISLE – Police charged two juveniles with theft Friday night after Aroostook Center Mall officials reported the pair had shoplifted some items from a mall store.

The two juveniles, a 16-year-old girl from Presque Isle and a 17-year-old boy from Caribou, were taken to the Presque Isle Police Department. While at the station, the girl escaped from custody but was apprehended a short distance from the police station, according to Sgt. Eric Erickson of the Presque Isle Police Department.

Erickson said Officer Kevin Schumacher and his K-9, Hunter, found the girl, who since has been charged with theft and escape.

The man has been charged with theft, possession of tobacco products and possession of prescription drugs, Erickson said.
