BREWER – A two-car accident Monday evening resulted in the arrest of one woman who allegedly attempted to hide evidence from police.

Lynn Martin, 27, of Bangor was arrested after she was found in the bathroom of a North Main Street residence immediately after a 6:15 accident near the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant.

Martin was riding in a southbound Ford Taurus driven by Alison Langen, 27, of Bangor, when the car crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming vehicle, according to police.

No one was hospitalized as a result of the accident.

Langen told police she blacked out and did not remember striking the northbound vehicle. Langen said she had taken methadone at 1 p.m. Monday and had used cocaine within the last week, according to police.

Martin entered a nearby house immediately after the crash and asked to use the bathroom, according to police. The residents asked police to come inside after they saw hypodermic needles fall from Martin’s pant’s leg before she closed the bathroom door.

When police entered the bathroom, Martin appeared to be concealing something inside her body. While she was allowed time to dress herself, Martin flushed something down the toilet and washed her hands, according to police.

Martin was arrested for falsifying physical evidence and was transported to Penobscot County Jail.

Martin was searched by police and jail employees and was not found with any drugs or paraphernalia, according to police.

Langen was not charged in connection with the accident, though a search of her car Monday night turned up drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs, according to police.
