FORT FAIRFIELD – Pat Willett scored two goals, including the game-winner, to boost the Katahdin boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Fort Fairfield Wednesday night in high school action.
Casey Savage assisted on the decisive goal which came with 22:12 left in the second half O’Neil Qualey assisted Willett’s first goal 4:54 into the first half for the 2-0 Cougars of Stacyville. Burton Brayall made eight saves on 16 shots.
Kyle Enman netted an unassisted goal with 26 seconds left in the game for 1-4 Fort Fairfield. Billy Scull stopped nine of 20 shots.
Madawaska 2, Wisdom 0
At Madawaska, Tyler Levesque scored two goals in the first half to help lead Madawaska to the victory.
Paul Michaud stopped all three shots he faced for the 2-3-1 Owls.
Brent Michaud made 14 saves on 16 shots for 0-5 Wisdom of St. Agatha.
Cent. Aroostook 6, Limestone 2
At Limestone, Jake Delano netted three goals to help push Central Aroostook of Mars Hill past Limestone.
Jason Woodworth scored two goals for the 5-1-1 Panthers and Kyle Taylor added a goal. Jon Boyd made six saves on 13 shots.
Shinya Katagawa and Mark Leach both scored a goal for 1-5 Limestone. Addison Rossignol blocked 15 of 35 shots.
Girls soccer
Washburn 1, Easton 0
At Washburn, Kristen Goupille knocked in the game-winner with less than 21 minutes left in the second half to lift the Beavers past the Bears.
Amber Palmer made one save on four shots for 5-2 Washburn.
Briana White stopped 12 of 20 shots for 0-6 Easton.
Fort Fairfield 5, Katahdin 1
At Fort Fairfield, Kerri Cunningham racked up two goals and two assists to power the Tigers.
Sheena Esancy, Sadie Ayoob and Brittany McLaughlin each chipped in with a goal. McLaughlin added an assist and Keegan O’Neal had six saves on nine shots for 4-1-1 Fort Fairfield.
Michelle Martin scored for the 0-2 Cougars of Stacyville. Clarissa Gallagher made 16 saves on 36 shots.
