FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Liz Mendell scored the game-winning goal 14 minutes into the second half to lift the University of Maine field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart Thursday afternoon.

Meagan Connolly scored two goals and Mendell had an assist. Jamie Morin made ten saves on 25 shots for the 2-1 Black Bears.

Becky Ford and Jenn Howley each scored for the 1-2 Pioneers, who twice rallied from one-goal deficits. Robyn Breer recorded three saves in the first half, while Ashley Del Greco stopped three shots in the second half and picks up the loss.
