Brandon is a bright and funny 9-year-old boy who enjoys video games, playing outside, playing with Legos and being exposed to new experiences. He also enjoys reading.
Brandon will be entering the fourth grade and loves social studies. He is good at remembering facts and figures and often wins trivia contests at school. He has been described as “a very linear thinker with a gentle heart.” Brandon is affectionate and helpful and likes to assist with chores in his home. He is searching for an adoptive family with whom he could be helpful.
Brandon has made tremendous progress during the past two years. After a difficult past, Brandon has been able to come to terms with his birth parents’ not being able to care for him. He also has made progress regarding his behavior. He is able to take his medication without any difficulty and understands that it helps him to organize his thoughts and emotions and to control his behavior.
Brandon enjoys being the center of attention and being made to feel special. He is known in his school and home environments as being a caring child who is willing to look out for his peers. He is seeking to be part of a family “forever” and is looking to belong.
Brandon’s adoptive family should be patient, very consistent and understanding. It will be important that post-adoptive services be arranged to help Brandon’s adoptive family with his emotional and behavioral challenges as well as to facilitate a healthy relationship with the entire family.
Brandon responds well when he is frustrated and knows that he needs some time and space to process the information and to understand better what is being asked of him. He will be most successful as the youngest or one of the youngest children in a home.
