BANGOR – It looked like Bangor’s latest win streak would end at two games when North Shore scored two runs in the top of the 12th inning Friday night, but then the resilient Lumberjacks scored three of their own for a three-game sweep of the Spirit and their 10th win in the last 12 games.

Rolando Bello’s two-out, three-run double – his only hit in the game – in the 12th sent Bangor to a 4-3 shocker over the Spirit at Winkin Complex. Bangor is now 29-13 and still one game behind Northeast League North Division leader Quebec.

Despite committing three errors to none by North Shore and the Spirit having 16 baserunners to Bangor’s 10, the Lumberjacks pulled it out as Mark Burke drew a one-out walk in the 12th, Josh Tranum delivered a pinch-hit single, and Paul Powell (two singles) worked a two-out walk to load the bases for Bello.

Clayton Andrews started for Bangor and threw 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits and three walks while notching six strikeouts. Closer John Mangieri earned his first win despite giving up two hits and an earned run in one inning of work.

Joe Hastings went 4-for-6 with three RBIs and Vic Davilla singled three times to pace the 25-17 Spirit.
