Hampden man backs into police car Accident at Main Street McDonald’s leaves cruiser with $400 in damage

A man backed into a Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department cruiser Sunday in the parking lot of a Bangor fast-food restaurant.

Jeffrey Hay, 20, of Hampden backed into the cruiser at 1:42 p.m. as Sgt. William Birch waited in the drive-through of the Main Street McDonald’s, according to police reports. The cruiser had $400 in damage.

Hay’s 1993 Mercury was not damaged, according to reports.

Brewer police are looking for a local man who allegedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend Sunday evening.

Kenneth Grass, 44, of Brewer was gone when police arrived at his residence after receiving a report of domestic violence at 5 p.m. Sunday. Grass, who has a history of abusive behavior, struck his girlfriend and will be charged upon apprehension, according to police.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Brewer Police Department at 989-7001.

A fire that started Saturday night at a restaurant under construction in Bangor remains under investigation.

The Bangor Fire Department responded at 10 p.m. to a small fire on the roof of a Stillwater Avenue building that soon will house a Chili’s Grill and Bar, according to Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bostock. The fire was extinguished quickly and its cause remains under investigation, he said.

The site, located on the corner of Stillwater Avenue and Gilman Road, will be home to a 5,697-square-foot restaurant with seating for 225 patrons.

Two marijuana plants were removed Monday afternoon from a wooded area near Riverside Trailer Park in Old Town.

Police received a tip that marijuana was being grown near the park and confiscated the plants at 1:30 p.m. Monday. No one has been charged in connection with the drug seizure because police do not know who cultivated the plants.

A Bangor woman was arrested Sunday night after she screamed at neighbors who had complained about the noise in her apartment.

Police already had warned Nicole Chapman, 20, to quiet down before arresting her for disorderly conduct at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday, according to reports. Neighbors of her Third Street apartment complained that Chapman turned up the volume on her stereo, banged doors and yelled after they first complained to police about the noise.

Chapman was arrested after she screamed at her neighbors in the hallway when police returned to her apartment, according to reports. Her 2-year-old son, who was inside the apartment, was left with a friend.

Chapman was summoned for marijuana possession in July, according to police. The reports documenting Chapman’s summons and Sunday’s disorderly conduct arrest were forwarded to the Department of Health and Human Services.
